Love your Training

2015 is here and today we have access to more information than ever before. Everyone knows exercise is important and still a lot of us don't stick with it. A big problem I have noticed is a lack of interest. People just don't enjoy what they are doing. You buy a membership to your local gym and jump on the elliptical for 30 minutes. For me, I could never enjoy that, it is boring. And I would bet a lot of people can't get into that.

Do you love basketball? Find a rec league and join, don't worry about getting in shape before, just do it. Do you like dancing? There are a ton of group exercise classes that incorporate dance into the routine. If you hate running, don't buy a treadmill. I have been fortunate enough to have been exposed to many forms of exercise and I love learning about them so I try new things. Many people will tell you, you have to train the way they say. "You better get your 150 minutes of cardio in or you will have a heart attack." Don't take everything as gospel, find what you love and learn to incorporate some of the guidelines (like cardio) into your program. As I have tried a number of programs I'm going to write a quick description about a few just to give you some insight to find something you like.

Crossfit- Everyone has heard about crossfit. It's a cross training, boot camp type training. Whether you hear positive or negative things about crossfit make sure you look into yourself before diving in. I have gone to a crossfit gym once and I got a great workout and it had a great team atmosphere. If you like training with others and want to get a high intensity workout in, try it out.

Powerlifting- All about strength. If you want to get strong as shit, you might want to try it out. Just YouTube some powerlifters and you will be amazed at how much these guys lift. I personally love incorporating some powerlifting into my routine. There is not a more satisfying feeling than putting up a new PR in squats.

Triathlons/Distance Events- I have been to quite a few triathlons and 5ks, as my dad is a triathlete. The events are a lot of fun even if you aren't competing. Everyone is positive and there are a lot of hard-working people. Training for these will be less intense than powerlifting or crossfit but you have to train long. If you enjoy long-distance running this may be for you.

Bodybuilding- You want to look like Superman? Get into bodybuilding. Bodybuilders get a bad rap, with PED's and things like that but you don't have to get into that stuff to be a bodybuilder. Bodybuilders train hard and are very disciplined with their training and their diet.

There are so many options when it comes to exercise, there truly is something for everyone. I only listed a few things I have been around but, do some research and find something you can love and get to it! No excuses in 2015! Whatever you find, work hard, smart and get healthy! Good Luck!
